Trip to winter wonderland - Day 5
Trip to winter wonderland - Day 5
My buddy offered to let me keep my suitcase at his hotel after I checked out. I accepted since his hotel is closer to the station than where I was staying. But, it was not fun dragging my suitcase through the slushy snow.
Since I was leaving for the airport at 2pm, we only visited the Sapporo Clock Tower, a historical and cultural symbol of Sapporo, the oldest of its kind remaining in Japan. The clock tower definitely has seen better days. I wonder when it's scheduled to get a fresh coat of paint? After seeing the clock tower, we went for lunch.
After lunch, we went back to his hotel for a brief rest before I collected my suitcase and headed for the hotel. There wasn't enough time for sexy time, but we spent time to get reacquainted the past couple of days. I wanted to get to the airport early so I could see the Royce Chocolate Factory at the Shin Chitose airport. It was pretty cool watching the machine processing the packaging of the chocolates. The shop was the biggest I've seen and even had a bakery. I spent way too much there, and the skyrocketing cost of chocolate didn't help.
The flight and train ride home was uneventful and I finally made it home. It was good sleeping in my own comfortable bed. I was so glad I could work from home for the next few days.
I had a great time. The food was good, the company was great, the Snow Festival featured impressive sculptures.
