Trip to winter wonderland - Day 4

Trip to winter wonderland - Day 4

It's been snowing off and on the past 3 days, but the weather on day of the opening of the snow festival was warm and sunny. Unseasonably warm. We headed out bright and early to avoid the crowd. But, there were many who had the same idea. There were more people out than we expected.

We browsed through the blocks of the snow sculptures, getting a closer look of the big sculptures. We already saw some of the smaller sculptures the day before when they removed the barriers to that portion of the park. Just as we thought, the huge sculpture of the castle was impressive. We took pics from all angles. LOL

I knew there was going to be a Gundam sculpture, but it was one from one of the new movies that's coming out soon. I was mildly disappointed that it wasn't a sculpture of a scaled robot, but just the head.

We saw all the sculptures that were hidden behind barriers. By the time we made the rounds, we were ready for lunch and a nap. We were planning to go back to the park in the evening to see the sculptures lit up after dinner. By the time we woke up from our nap, we decided to just go out to dinner and skip the park.

We were planning to go back to the same place we went to the night before since we loved the food and atmosphere. Sadly, they were closed. We decided to see the ice sculptures before looking for another place to go eat at. Since it was so warm during the afternoon, the surface of the sculptures melted and they didn't look as glossy as they did the night before.

We roamed around the area and found another Genghis Kahn restaurant that's been around for a while. This place was a bit more expensive that the other place, but the cuts of meat was thicker, better quality, and more tender. The food was well worth the extra price. The atmosphere was quieter, too, less casual. But still, good choice. I was pretty full by the time we finished dinner.

I got back to my hotel while snacks were still offered. No rolls left but there were still donuts. Ice cream sundae for dessert. My buddy was so jealous when I sent him a pic. LOL He asked me to bring him donuts for tomorrow so I smuggled out a couple in a paper cup.

I ended the day with a nice soak in a hot bath.

To be continued . . .
