Trip to winter wonderland - Day 3

Trip to winter wonderland - Day 3

On (my) day 3, we decided to meet up after breakfast (and morning bath for me), so I told my buddy I'll be at his hotel around 9:30am-ish. Now that I knew the route, the walk was a bit shorter than the first time. It was just easier for me to go to him since I knew the route. We all know that men don't do directions very well. LOL

We didn't really have a set itinerary, our main goal being the snow festival, which was opening the next day. We decided to scope out the park to see if we could see anything. The park itself was closed off, so we had to walk along the uncleared sidewalks. We were both like, Sapporo is snow country, it snows every year, yet they're unable to clear the snow from the major sidewalks? Only parts of the sidewalks were cleared of snow. The rest had a path plowed out. What with the snow festival being a major winter event with tons of tourists visiting, you'd think they'd have the snow cleared as much as possible, despite being hit with an unexpected blizzard and heavy snowfall that lasted for a few days (since a snap election is scheduled, you hear candidates pledging for more budgeting to deal with the snow as they pass by in their campaign vans, which I'm sure voters are calling bullshit).

The park is about 11 blocks long and large sculptures were featured every 2 blocks. The impressive ones were of the Hokkaido University, Tsuruga Castle, and Mandelorian. From what we could see of the Tsuruga Castle, it looked really amazing. I think it took about 3600 self defense force personnel about a month to complete the huge sculpture. It was about 5 storeys tall. We looked forward to getting a better look the next day. There was an international team just starting work on snow sculptures. They were scheduled to finish over the weekend. It's a pity we won't get to see the finished product, but it was interesting to see how they go about sawing and chiseling to get the basic shape down. We did see the 3D mockups made out of styrofoam. There was a team from Hawaii, and visitors were like, "Team Hawaii, give us a shaka!" and they did.

After getting a lay of the land, we decided to grab some late lunch/early dinner. We roamed around a mall near the park, but we didn't find anywhere appealing but we found a cafe where we could sit down and take a breather. We then went to another mall, and found a place that we liked. When we got back to his hotel, he asked if I wanted to come up for a bit. This time, I did. His bed was much bigger than mine. We started making out fully clothed. But I gotta ask, what was the dumbest thing a lover did while you were making out? We were on the bed, on our sides, his hand running down my back to my butt, until he finds the zipper on my back pocket. He then starts playing with the zipper, zipping and unzipping it. I was like, da fuq, dude, what are you thinking? He was like, dunno, found the zipper and had to play with it. We both started cracking up. He also took the opportunity to complain that I was wearing too many layers, so we both proceeded to shed the layers and crawled back into bed, appropriately undressed for the occasion. Hot 'n steamy time.

We decided to call it a night and I headed back to my hotel. I got back early enough to enjoy snack time. I made myself an ice cream sundae with a mini donut. An assortment of rolls were also set out so I munched on a few with some hot chocolate. I then went for a nice soak in a hot bath. Teeny tiny bath tubs in rooms can be forgiven if the hotel has a communal bath where I can stretch out and soak my tired bones.

To be continued . . .
