Sweet time with Witches and Wizards
Sweet time with Witches and Wizards
A buddy texted me asking if I'd be interested in going to a Halloween-themed afternoon tea. We settled on a sweets buffet offered at a Hilton in Tokyo with the "School of Witches and Wizards" theme. All of the buffets were pricey but hey, it's more or less a special event, and special events always tend to be more expensive. You should see the prices of Xmas dinners!
This buffet offered 15 types of desserts, 3 types of special sweets, 15 types of custom chocolates, 8 types of savory dishes, and soft drinks, including hot chocolate. Instead of cutting up cakes in little pieces, each piece was individually created, like petit fours. The decoration was inspired by a wizard's library and magical laboratory to create a magical world. All in all, the presentation was very impressive and delightful.
There were quite a few groups of ladies taking advantage of the theme and came dressed up in their goth and little bo peep outfits and some with Harry Potter cloaks. All I did was wear Halloween colors, orange and black. LOL
The seating is for 2 hours, but that's plenty of time to scarf down heaps of cakes. I did sample some of the savory dishes, but I was more focused on the sweets. The cakes were so good! Each piece were packed with flavor but not overly sweet. All the more easier to sample quite a few pieces. There was also a chocolate fountain with fruit and marshmallows laid out. I tried a chocolate-covered marshmallow. It would've been better if they used smaller marshmallows. I like pouring chocolate from the chocolate fountain over vanilla ice cream. Yummy! Of course, I couldn't resist sampling the variety of chocolate barks on offer. Needless to say, I was stuffed by the end of the 2 hours!
It was a very fun and delicious afternoon.
Have you had any scrumptious cakes lately?
Sounds like you had a Wicked time. It all looks good enough to eat..
