Prisoners of the past

When I saw the title, the rich white dudes pulling the strings behind the scenes came to mind.

Are they not prisoners of their own past, the glory days of their youth, where they were allowed to be openly misogynistic and racist? They played the long game to bring back those glory days.

To do that, they needed to build their wealth since money talks and bullshit walks. So, they worked on destroying the middle class.

Then they chipped away at public education, since educated people tend to be capable of critical and independent thinking. No, no, they can't have that. The less educated the population, the easier to manipulate and control the narrative.

This is where my personal conspiracy theory on sugar also comes into play. Sugar. Sweet, sweet, yummy sugar. Did you know that excessive sugar consumption can cause cognitive decline and could damage brain cells? However, cane sugar sends signals to the brain that enough has been consumed, whereas high-fructose corn syrup does not. So, who actually was behind the idea to subsidize the corn industry and replace cane sugar with corn syrup? I wouldn't be surprised that the campaign to blame fats for obesity where sugar is the actual culprit.

Over the decades, we've seen the income and education levels of the vast population on the decline and obesity rates on the rise. The plans of those clinging on to the glory days of misogyny and racism is showing to be working.

But, their carefully laid out plans has produced an unexpected side effect--anger. So far, they've managed to control the narrative and redirect the anger to the boogeyman du jour. But for how long?

Foundations of their plans are starting to show cracks here and there. Will their plans crumble in time to save the population? Or will the manipulated population keep working against their own interests because they, as well, prefer misogyny and racism over progress and equality?

I guess time will tell.
