Seeing blue
OK class, let's start singing 🎶Under the sea🎵 for Engima 😂
The weather report said that the waves would be calm and there was a beach I haven't had a chance to go to this summer, so off to the beach I went. It also gave me a chance to try out the "new-to-me" pop-up tent I found at a 2nd hand shop (they're called recycle shops here in the Land of the Rising Sun).
Since I don't know how much longer I can rely on my old underwater camera, I decided to get myself a new regular one since it was only $20 (inflation's gone wild and the model I was using recently more than doubled in price). The waterproof pouch has been working like a charm, so it'll be a nice backup camera. I had to toss most of the stills I took with the new camera, but the vids turned out OK enough. I couldn't get it to focus. I need to play around with it a bit more to figure out its quirks.
I saw a pretty big school of stripeys the first time I went in the water. Now that was pretty cool. I usually just see a handful swimming together, but this time, it was a pretty big school of them. Of course, there were lots of box puffer fish playing peek-a-boo. They're so cute.
I walked over to the diving point the second time I went into the water. This is where lots of pretty blue fishies can be found, and find them, I did. I saw a few big clusters of them. They were so pretty! I also saw a moorish idol swimming about.
It was high tide, but the water was on the murky side in deeper water, so visibility wasn't all that great. I felt sorry for the diving school students taking a class that day (there's a couple of dive shops near the beach where people can get diving licenses).
Speaking of divers, I was swimming along to the point where the fishies are, and all of a sudden, I see this wall of bubbles heading towards me. Turns out it was a diver coming back to shore from a dive. LOL
I did go to the beach last week, but because of the typhoon passing by, I couldn't go to snorkeling. But, since it was the last day of official beach opening, I went to hang out at a beach bar that I like. The waves weren't as big as I thought they'd be, but they were still big enough to knock me down. My buddy and I were laughing hysterically at my antics.
Mother Nature put on a lightening show for us that evening. My buddy and I decided to leave before the storm hits. He was OK heading towards the station, but me, not so much. Getting wet wasn't that big of a deal since I was wearing a rash guard and bathing suit. Too bad the deluge didn't wash away all the sand I was carrying inside my rash guard. There was a huge pile on the floor when I took everything off in the shower when I got home.
I'm hoping to get a chance to go snorkeling a couple more times before the water gets too cold.
How was your weekend?
