Flowers 'n Spice

It was Friday evening after work. I learned that the cherry blossoms along the river were in full bloom so I decided to head on down to my favorite pub for a nice walk before enjoying a pint of sweet cider and have something for dinner. The food at this pub is awesome.

The cherry blossoms along the river were absolutely lovely. There are tour boats out where passengers can enjoy the cherry blossoms while floating down the calm river. The cherry blossoms are lit up at night, and so were the tour boats.

I debated between the beef in red wine pie and the lamb vindaloo curry. The owner told me that the curry was really spicy but in a good way. Sold! Man, he wasn't kidding that the curry was spicy! It was spicier than usual. It was really good, but my mouth was on fire! The sweet cider helped quench the heat.

Yes, I was in dire need of ice cream. Fortunately, there was a fruit parlor that offered some really yummy ice cream parfaits. I chose the one with strawberries with scoops of vanilla and pistachio ice cream. It was so good!

How was your Friday?

  2. Vindaloo is a very hot curry here. The dish always has a potato in, hence the aloo in its name.

    1. There may have been potatoes in the curry in the beginning, but the owner's wife (who is an amazing cook) said she let the curry simmer too long. It was still good.

  3. The cherry blossoms are just stunning, and what I wouldn't give to ride that boat to see them.

Friday? Nick and I watched the first two episodes of Star Trek Discovery and had ice cream. :)

    2. As a true Michigander, Sanders Black Cherry is my favorite Ice Cream. We can't get that here, so I have to settle for Publix Cherry Chocolate Passion.
