Cherry blossoms and tulips
There's another type of cherry blossoms that bloom before the Somei Yoshino called Yokohama Hizakura (横浜緋桜). Like the Somei Yoshino, the Yokohama Hizakura bloomed a couple of weeks later than last year.
This cherry blossom was bred especially for Yokohama. It's a darker pink and blooms in balls. It's really cute when the blossoms fully bloom.
The park also boasts a nice tulip garden with an impressive variety. The tulips were just as pretty as the cherry blossoms.
The weather wasn't all that great, raining off and on all day long. The blossoms would have been much prettier with clear skies, but they were lovely nonetheless.

If you like tulips, I recommend a visit to the Netherlands to see their tulip fields and Amsterdam's tulip market.
ReplyDeleteThere's a theme park called Huis Ten Bosch in Sasebo, which is down in Kyushu, that's like little Netherlands and they have a tulip festival every year. I've only been there once, but not during the tulip festival.
DeleteOh wow, I love the balls of pink blossoms, reminds me of cotton candy.
